Oster Microwave Oven And It Different Parts

A microwave or microwave oven is a kitchen appliance that cooks or heats food by dielectric heating. Basically it is microwave radiation that achieves this. It gives a fairly uniform result. But to accomplish this all the parts of the microwave combine together.

Oster is a well known brand in the world of cooking. They manufacture and versatile and stylish array of products. Their motto is to provide creative cooks with the means to express their creativity in the kitchen.

Some of the parts of an Oster Microwave Oven are:

Door – This is a very important part of the unit from the working as well as safety point of view. It is designed to reflect the microwaves so they cannot escape from the oven. There is a metal mesh in the door. The metal acts like a mirror for the microwaves and the tiny holes in the mesh allow you to observe the food without letting any microwaves through.

Turntable – The function of a turntable is to rotate the food mounted on it in the microwave. It has a circularly formed geared portion on the lower side. Basically the geared portion is responsible for rotating it at a fixed speed. The turntable drive mechanism has a motor, a drive gear associated with the geared portion of the turntable, and a metal gear box and a metal reflector secured around and within the drive gear for protecting it from the microwave energy.

Interior light bulb –The basic function of the light bulb inside the microwave is to allow you to check on the food while it is cooking. These days with the advancement in technology many manufacturers have added a high powered quartz halogen bulb to the convection microwave ovens and market them under names like Speedcook, Advantium and Optimawave. This halogen bulb cooks the food faster and produces great browning results incase of a convection microwave.

Browning Tray – This tray is used to achieve good browning results. It is made of glass or porcelain. Ordinary plastic cookware cannot be used for this purpose.

Certain parts like the bulb, browning tray, etc can be replaced if they break down. You can visit the Oster website to see the procedure to order replacement parts. Some parts may be too expensive to replace and may not be worth it.
